Diamond Environmental Services, a provider of on-site facility rentals for construction and event industries, includes a workforce that includes hundreds of fieldworkers in multiple subsidiaries who need to stay mobile 24/7 to get their jobs done effectively.

The Challenge

To support the company’s growing mobile workforce, Pedro Rubalcava, Operations Supervisor, was caught in difficult position — to maintain up-time for employees on numerous projects, he was forced into spending considerable amounts of time managing even simple requests with inefficient wireless carrier tools and customer service. With shrinking availability for higher priority tasks, Pedro looked to find a partner that could help them solve their mobility management issues; he was simply spending too much time managing mobility when other, more important tasks needed his immediate attention.

The Solution

With day-to-day business depending on mobility, Diamond worked with eMOBUS to reduce burgeoning mobile costs, maintain up-time, and keep their team focused on the task at hand. eMOBUS was immediately able to reduce costs though in-depth carrier invoice analysis to pinpoint areas for voice and data plan optimization. With expenses down, eMOBUS immediately transitioned all of the company’s lines to the cloud-based EMM platform, which allows Diamond to manage the frequent device and plan change requests, generate usage and spend reports, and provide end-user support all from one tool.

The Result

With Pedro’s regained ability to focus on more mission-critical tasks, he relies on eMOBUS to help him manage mobility from end-to-end. “Before eMOBUS I might have spent 2-3 hours a day on the phone with carriers, but now things are handled through EMM in a matter of minutes.” Pedro is now able to spend minimal time managing mobility and leans on eMOBUS specialists to help keep things on track. As with all customers, eMOBUS provides Diamond Environmental with their own account manager who works directly with Pedro to make sure they are getting the most from wireless infrastructure and expenses. “The ability review an invoice and immediately analyze the data in EMM is great. I also appreciate the fact that another pair of eyes is reviewing our bills to catch incorrect charges and identify additional areas to save”.

SAN DIEGO, CA, May 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ – SOTI Inc., world-leader in the enterprise Mobile Device Management (MDM) space, has proudly announced a strategic partnership with new breed, enterprise mobility management provider, eMOBUS. This alliance combines second-to-none MDM capabilities with real-time control of user spend, security, and support in one package.

Deployed in days and easy-to-use, eMOBUS reduces mobile costs up to 40% while lowering impact on IT resources, a far leap ahead of traditional, standalone, TEM tools which require several months and countless resources for deployment and ongoing administration. In addition, the SOTI and eMOBUS partnership goes beyond newly touted R-TEM competitors by not only notifying organizations of potential overage incidents instantaneously, but automatically implementing the necessary changes with the wireless carriers to rectify these incidents as or before they occur. This saves organizations precious time and always ensures the lowest cost, even if reports or notifications are missed. Further streamlining of mobile device deployment is also possible allowing for automatic selection of device MDM profiles in SOTI MobiControl as new orders are processed through the eMOBUS platform, ensuring uniform implementation and eliminating multiple steps.

“SOTI MobiControl’s powerful remote control and management features enable IT administrators to access crucial information on a device. This alliance between market-leaders SOTI and eMOBUS enables enterprises to manage mobility end-to-end, including costs, devices, provisioning, support, security and applications,” said Ron Hassanwalia, VP of Sales & Marketing, SOTI Inc.

Walter Wong, EVP of Sales, eMOBUS states, “SOTI and eMOBUS allow enterprises to enable a smart and secure BYOD strategy. SOTI MobiControl allows all devices to access company resources securely, while eMOBUS streamlines the BYOD process by allowing companies’ end-users to purchase their own devices on a personal credit card, while the company maintains crucial control of the wireless carrier services that power the device on a corporate account.”

Added Wong, “Imagine your VP of Global Sales travels internationally and forgets to update to the appropriate data and voice plan before departing. SOTI MobiControl would recognize the device was roaming, communicate with the eMOBUS platform, and automatically adjust the plan with the wireless carrier. This level of automation prevents costly overage charges and eliminates resource-intensive, IT fire drills.
Tony Rizzo, Editor of Mobile Enterprise Magazine sums it up in his April 2012 article entitled The Hidden Enterprise Tablet Challenge: Managing Wireless Data Costs: “It is critical for enterprises to bring their TEM platforms into the 21st century, and to ensure that those TEM platforms are properly enabled to deal with mobile devices and tablets flooding the market today. Integration with MDM capabilities, especially as part of a TEM package, is also critical to ensure policy management enforcement and to have full control over both tablet and smartphone wireless data usage.”

eMOBUS’ platform provides continuous bill optimization, on-demand account visibility and the added convenience and safety of a cloud-based platform. The business processes outsourcing model allows organizations to minimize time spent managing cellular so they can focus on their core competencies.

eMOBUS™ was the obvious choice for mobility management, helping Netsuite reduce their workload, reduce billing costs, and improve account visibility. eMOBUS™ not only simplifies billing and order processes, but ensures that accounts are managed in the customer’s best interest.

“By deploying Electronic Mobility Management, we gained back half of our IT labor that was lost to cellular issues, while cutting direct billing costs by 23%.” states, Maurice Smallwood, VP of IT.

The Challenges
Carriers bundle packages of minutes, data, and text messaging plans, making account management so difficult to work through that most companies don’t invest the resources to properly manage it. Because carriers do not have processes in place to prevent adverse and unnecessary charges, this results in variable monthly costs, confusing and lengthy invoices and customer dissatisfaction. For most organizations, mobility management comes secondary to business. In a rapidly growing environment, management is an even lower priority, almost completely neglected. For NetSuite, one of Silicon Valley’s fastest growing companies, mobility management quietly grew into a time-consuming burden and overwhelming line item. Maurice claims that 20% of his IT department’s time was spent on maintaining devices, waiting for carrier customer service, and negotiating billing-related cellular issues.

“Managing mobility was never high on my to-do list,” states Mr. Smallwood. “However, when my team informed me how much time they were spending daily on cellular tasks, I realized I had to take action.”

The Solution
eMOBUS™ allowed NetSuite to take the guesswork out of mobility management while consolidating all of the company’s cellular vendors through a single point of contact. The cloud-based platform handles invoice data mining and cost analysis, while providing simplified reporting into out of policy usage and device life cycle inventory. Additionally, eMOBUS™ provides a breadth and depth of business intelligence and process-management unavailable from cellular carriers. eMOBUS™ platform simplifies processes and pays for itself within the first 60 days. The solution offers strategic value for a price that makes business sense.

About NetSuite
NetSuite Inc. is a leading vendor of on-demand, integrated business management software suites for midsize businesses and divisions of large companies. NetSuite enables mid-market companies to manage core business operations in a single system, which includes accounting / enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), and ecommerce. NetSuite’s patent-pending “real-time dashboard” technology provides an easy-to-use view into up-to-date, role-specific business information.

With five locations spread across California and Arizona, W.L. Butler was forced to deploy two carrier providers for the coverage they needed. However, juggling multiple relationships and different carrier processes proved tedious for the company’s IT and Accounting departments.

“The eMOBUS™ Electronic Mobility Management platform reduced the time spent managing mobile devices to around 5 hours per month. This reduction in man-hours has a direct cost savings of approximately $10,000 per year,” said Gary Sciuto, IT Manager- W.L. Butler, “In addition, we have seen a reduction in our direct billing costs by 29%, adding another $96,000k in savings per year.”

The eMOBUS™ platform allowed W. L. Butler to streamline both Verizon and AT&T configurations through one system, reducing redundancy and operational workload.

The Challenges
Poor account visibility lead to ballooning minute usage, incompatible plans, and a buildup of unused lines. Without proper documentation and accountability, it was challenging for W.L. Butler to dispute carrier billing discrepancies. W.L. Butler could not afford to waste any more time on bill reconciliation, or tracking plans, users, and cellular inventory with more important issues to address. Confused, exhausted, and frustrated with poor carrier customer service, Gary reached out to eMOBUS™.

Gary explains, “Before eMOBUS™, my IT department was collectively spending 40 hours per month on managing cellular logistics, reconciling bills, and dealing with carrier customer service representatives claims. In addition, our cellular costs were continually increasing due to a lack of communication and responsiveness from my AT&T and Verizon reps.”

The Solution
As IT Manager, Gary looks for cost-effective and creative ways to reduce costs for the company. After assessing the staggering amount of time wasted on cellular management, he began searching for a solution.

“The carriers provided web based management which they claimed would provide all the stats and information we needed, but what they provided either never worked or was very basic and left us with little information to assess our over charges or troubleshoot phone issues. In addition the carriers seemed to routinely break the sites and would push us to use the reps who were completely unresponsive to our needs” claims Gary. “eMOBUS’ responsive business process outsourcing partner model allows us to minimize time spent on wireless, so we can maximize the most out of our existing resources.”

Management is better able to observe each employee’s out-of-compliance usage through the customizable eMOBUS™ dashboards. Itemized additional usage charges are just one of the many reports available through the applications reporting.

About W.L. Butler
ENR Top 400 General Contractor, W. L. Butler Construction, is a full-service general contractor committed to “building our client’s vision” by creating relationships and providing superior quality that exceeds expectations.

Through the deployment of the eMOBUS Electronic Mobility Management (EMM) platform, Eleven Western Builders was able to put an end to $2,300 in unnecessary reoccurring costs. Additionally, by improving end user plan compatibility, eMOBUS reduced Eleven Western Builders MRC’s (Monthly Recurring Charges) by $2,700, bringing the total combined monthly savings to $5,000.

“By outsourcing management of our cellular to eMOBUS, our team gained back valuable time and reduced direct cellular billing by 28%,” claims CFO, Richard Huey. “We appreciate the monthly reports, responsive service, and centralized web-based system.”

The Challenges
Over time, employees leave, new hires are made, services are frequently upgraded and a surplus of unnecessary additional cellular lines build-up. For Eleven Western Builders, after some preliminary investigation, eMOBUS discovered a significant number of cellular lines not being used – costing the company $2,300 a month. Due to the lack of account visibility, it was difficult for Eleven Western Builders to see this problem unfold.

The Solution
eMOBUS reduces breakage by giving users visibility and control through inventory tracking of service plans, devices and accessories. By centralizing all account activity, eMOBUS prevents the accumulation of unused cellular lines and devices, eliminating unnecessary monthly fees and inventory loss. When a line is suspended, canceled, swapped or upgraded, each transaction is referenced against preset rules to ensure that the action is processed within the best interest of the account.

About Eleven Western Builders
Eleven Western Builders, Inc. is committed to providing customers with only the highest trained personnel. People build projects. People working together build better projects. People working as a team on multiple projects over time build the best projects, year after year.

Frustrated by the variable monthly charges from his mobile carriers, confusing and lengthy invoices, and poor carrier customer service, John Knott, Controller at Swinerton Builders contacted eMOBUS. After an initial consultation, Swinerton Builders implemented eMOBUS Electronic Mobility Management (EMM) platform.

Knott states, “We’re in the business of construction, cellular is just a tool. Our employees need cellular devices to conduct business, but the costs were bleeding each project’s bottom line.”

Besides the out of hand billing costs, John noticed the day-to-day administrative tasks were taking a toll on the business.

“Cellular is a nightmare that was just dumped into IT and Accounting’s plate. It’s a big enough cost to do something about, but hiring a full-time person was not justifiable,” explains John.Prior to eMOBUS, I estimated that we were spending over 50 hours a month on cellular related issues. Now we hardly spend any time on cellular at all. The most attractive part of the service, is that the fees are incorporated into the savings. Within the first 60 days, eMOBUS reduced my direct Sprint and Verizon billing costs by 33%.”

The Challenges
Monthly mobile invoices are among the most menacing line items that cross a controller’s desk. Lengthy documents with poor account visibility make managing corporate mobile accounts a challenge. “How does one determine additional charges when they are all grouped into one lump sum, let alone take action on them?” asked John. Instead of just charging a flat rate for usage, carriers create confusing bundles of minutes, data, and text messaging plans, forcing users to play a complex game of management where, more often than not, the carriers win. Companies that can’t keep up are forced to overpay for service, and literally throw away money each month. For companies that do contend with the carriers, it becomes resource-intensive internally, costing inordinate amounts of time and salary dollars.

The Solution
eMOBUS offers a rare combination of service and technology to find the most cost effective way to meet Swinerton’s daily mobility management needs. EMM provides control over account management, procurement, inventory tracking, and detailed visibility. Overages and underages, also known as “breakage”, is how the carriers profit from account mistakes. If an organization uses too few minutes on its plan, it loses money on the unused and wasted minutes. Conversely, if an organization uses more minutes than its plan provides, it pays a premium for going over the allocated minutes. When multiplied by the tens, hundreds or even thousands of users an organization employs, breakage adds up. Other prime breakage areas include text messaging, data usage, and international plans.

“eMOBUS realizes I have more important things to do than worry about the granular details of cellular,” exclaims John. “The online ticketing system saves my team time, while giving me visibility into out of company policy usage.”

About Swinerton Builders
Swinerton Builders provides commercial construction services throughout the Western United States, delivering innovative construction solutions and outstanding customer service to a diverse range of business clients that demand high quality construction. Established in 1888, Engineering News-Record magazine consistently ranks Swinerton among the Top 25 General Contractors in the nation and in the Top 10 within the categories of Commercial Office, Retail, Multi-family Residential, Hospitality, Healthcare, Education and Entertainment.

“eMOBUS offers better customer service for less than what we were originally paying the carriers,” claims Laurinda Citty, Network Engineer – Master Halco. “I used to spend hours each month sorting out billing errors and then reconciling those discrepancies against the following months invoice. Now I don’t even worry about the invoices at all, eMOBUS does all the work.”

The Challenges
Due to geographical coverage areas, Master Halco was forced to support multiple service providers; AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon. With their main focus on expanding their fencing enterprise, Master Halco’s mobile initiatives moved quickly down the priority list. As the company grew to 60 locations, so did its mobile workforce. Individual localized accounts were created and hundreds of employee expense reports carried hidden cellular charges. Each branch managed its own accounts individually, there was no corporate centralization.

After a Year of Frustration, Switching Vendors Yields Benefits and Savings in Just Days

San Diego, September 15, 2011 – After spending a year attempting to launch a mobility management tool, Hampton Products, a leading manufacturer and distributor of consumer packaged goods to big box retailers like Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes and others, saw no reduction in mobile carrier charges or relief for internal IT resources. Looking for a new approach and fast results, Hampton Products turned to eMOBUS for mobility management. In less than a week, eMOBUS delivered mobile savings, improved visibility of Hampton Products’ mobile environment, and automated the mobility support processes.

“Initially we worked with another firm, but even after many months we were not successful in getting their mobility management tool off the ground. And we were still waiting to get carrier data in their required format,” stated Brian Millsap, CIO of Hampton Products. “We needed to change course. In three days eMOBUS had us up and running with all three of our wireless carriers. eMOBUS saved us more in the first week than our annual service fee – and that’s without quantifying the reduced workload and stress on Hampton’s IT staff.”

One of the cornerstones of the eMOBUS approach is making mobility management easy. Said Moe Arnaiz, CEO of eMOBUS: “Many mobility management solutions look good in the sales process, but actually add work for the customer. This can entail manually acquiring and loading multiple carrier invoice formats on a monthly basis, continually updating device inventory and service plans and managing user change requests, all while trying to keep costs in check. We realized the need for an intuitive mobility management solution designed not only for hard dollar savings, but also for operational efficiency.”

eMOBUS reduces complexity by offering a turnkey technology-plus-service solution. “Our clients generally don’t have the time, interest or staff to get a mobility management platform up-and-running. They need performance right out of the gate,” explained Arnaiz. “We heavily leverage our cloud-based technology platform, which—in combination with our professional services team—enables our clients to be deployed and to realize results within a few days, not weeks or months.”

Hampton Products recognized the process efficiencies immediately. “If I want to order a new device, add or restrict features, or add international roaming for a period of time for one of our users, I just process the transaction through eMOBUS’s EMM Platform,” said Howard Shen, IT Manager at Hampton Products. “It takes only a few clicks, and all of our changes are processed within policy and at the best cost available. No work on our part. Once a transaction is completed with the carrier, I even get a confirmation email for my peace of mind.”

Continued Shen: “eMOBUS’s business intelligence and analytics feature provide real time feedback and suggestions for optimal account management. I just review the recommendation report, approve it, and it’s done. I no longer have to deal with the carriers.”

“This is exactly what we wanted all along. We knew we needed to automate. Supporting users, keeping track of our mobile devices, carriers and plans was labor-intensive and a huge drain on our IT resources. eMOBUS proved that mobility management can really work allowing us more time to focus on our core business,” concluded Millsap.

ENR Top 100 General Contractor Increases Productivity and Reduces Expense

eMOBUS, a leading provider of mobility management services announced today that Primoris Services Corporation, an ENR ranked Top 100 General Contractor and holding company for ARB Inc., James Construction, Rockford Pipe, Alaska Continental Pipeline, Craven Services, GML Coatings, Juniper Rock, Pluris, OnQuest, All Day Electric and Cardinal Mechanical, selected eMOBUS to automate the management of their corporate cellular environment.

Unresponsive and inconsistent carrier support resources were enough to convince Nick Schrunk, Director of IT for Primoris to evaluate their mobility management processes. “Our paper-based expense reporting method created a constant flow of documents for IT staff and those processing the reports,” claims Nick. The main components driving this paper pile up were the insufficient carrier reports and complex billing structures. Homegrown spreadsheets and manual auditing of 1,600+ cellular lines became a daunting task even for the savviest Telecom departments.

Before eMOBUS, Primoris relied on four different sets of carrier support resources, billing formats and ordering systems. Sean Karnes, Telecom Administrator for Primoris states, “eMOBUS consolidates all of our cellular vendors through one centralized system, creating a consistent experience for ordering equipment, changing services, billing, and reporting.”

“eMOBUS not only reduced our monthly spend by 20%, we gained back a good deal of time to focus on more mission critical initiatives,” said Nick. “The EMM platform gives us complete control over our mobile environment plus the peace of mind that we are not overpaying for carrier services.”
